Our nursing staff is dedicated to providing quality care with compassion. Each of our patients receives individualized care that reflects a professional, yet small town feeling.

The mission of nursing at Loring Hospital is to provide high quality evidence-based patient-centered care through collaboration, professionalism, ethical conduct, efficiency and innovation to all patients. We believe nursing is a science and an art dedicated to optimizing the physical and social well-being of all patients in a safe, timely, patient-centered approach adhering to standards and regulations of care. This includes a commitment to excellence in education and training, quality, safety, holistic patient-centered care, research, informatics, customer satisfaction, and community outreach.

Inpatient Services

Loring Hospital provides care to a wide variety of patients in our 25-bed facility. Advanced technology and a highly trained staff are ready to meet the needs of patients recovering from:

  • Surgery
  • Acute illness or infections
  • Heart attacks
  • Accidents 
  • Stroke
  • Other medical needs

Emergency Services

Loring Hospital emergency services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with 24 hour on-call physicians available.

  • All physicians are Advanced Trauma Life Support certified 
  • Nurses are certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced

 Skilled Nursing

Skilled nursing helps bridge the gap between hospital and home. Did you know that if you qualify you can receive care right here at Loring Hospital?

Some skilled needs include:

  • Rehabilitation, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy 
  • Medication administration needs 
  • Wound care 
  • Preparation for transition to home, family support, social services, nutrition support, and discharge planning

Hospice Suite

Loring Hospital hospice patients are cared for by a team of professionals including a doctor, our nursing staff and a hospice team of choice who work with you and your family to provide expert and compassionate hospice care that includes:

  • Personal care
  • Assistance with emotional well-being
  • Spiritual support
  • Bereavement services 

 State Recognition 

IPEAC Award

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (Iowa HHS) recently announced Loring Hospital as the twelfth hospital in Iowa to be recognized for readiness to provide emergency care for children through the state’s new Iowa Pediatric Emergency Assessment and Care (IPEAC) Recognition Program.

This program ensures each individual is prepared to provide:

  • Initial stabilization
  • Treatment
  • Any needed transfers to definitive care for ill and injured children in Iowa
