Nutrition Services

Medical Nutrition Therapy is recommended to actively manage or prevent a variety of chronic health conditions including heart disease, diabetes and high blood pressure. Loring Hospital's registered dietitian provides nutritional assessments, nutrition counseling and nutrition education for a variety of conditions.

Topics include but are not limited to:

  • making better food choices
  • understanding the new "My Plate" healthy eating plan
  • changing eating habits through behavioral strategies
  • planning and preparing foods
  • modifying recipes
  • understanding food labels
  • supermarket shopping for healthier eating
  • dining out

Visit your physician to determine if Nutrition Therapy is the best option for you.  If so, your doctor will provide a physician order, which is similar to a prescription. Or, contact our dietitian directly at 712-662-6396,  who will obtain the required paperwork from your physician. Our registered dietitian will schedule a time that is convenient for you to meet at her office.
