Loring Rehabilitation Department

The Loring Rehab Department delivers expert care by researching the latest rehabilitation techniques. Following a thorough evaluation, your therapist will carefully design a treatment plan to meet your specific needs and goals. We will develop a plan of care using treatment techniques that promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disabilities.

Occupational Therapy

  • Lymphedema therapy
  • Activity assessment and modification to enable return to essential or desired interests and activities after injury
  • Rehabilitation after general surgery or illness
  • Neurological rehab for post-stroke/CVA, head injury, Parkinson's, MS and other neurological disorders
  • Amputee rehabilitation
  • Cognitive retraining: attention, sequencing, memory, spatial awareness, problem solving, safety awareness, planning and time management
  • Home evaluations which result in recommendations for modifications to improve safety and functional ability within the home

Senior Care Services for Physical and Occupational Therapy

  • Geriatric specific therapy
  • Stepping On Falls Prevention Program
  • Stepping On is an 8 week program to help seniors explore barriers and benefits to exercise, strategies to sleep better, medication review, vision health, home hazard and safety, ending with a home visit to learn to move safely in your home. Many topics are covered to help seniors prevent falls in their home and in their communities.

Speech Therapy

Outpatient Services

  • Assessment and treatment for patients following stroke, head injury, dementia, Parkinson's or other neurological disorders
  • Speech intelligibility (Dysarthria)
  • Word finding deficits, difficulty in comprehension of speech, reading and/or writing (Aphasia)
  • Cognitive retraining in areas of short term memory, thought organization, orientation and problem solving for activities of daily living
  • Swallowing difficulties (Dysphagia)
