United States Senator Chuck Grassley paid a visit to Loring Hospital in Sac City on Aug. 27 to discuss rural healthcare with hospital staff and Board members.

Grassley’s visit started with a tour of the facility and culminated with a question and answer session that included discussion of important issues that impact Loring Hospital and other rural hospitals. Topics included: the Paycheck Protection Program and if that will affect Medicare payments, safety in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services funding for rural healthcare, prescription drug costs, and a Rural Emergency Hospital Program he is working on with other senators.

“We have got to be less dependent on China,” said Grassley, when discussing the price of purchasing medical and other supplies we receive from China.

Senator Grassley also touched on the $600 unemployment insurance program, or Lost Wages Assistance, and how this is changing.
