Quarterly Health Beat: Heart Health Facts and Information
February 4, 2020
Loring Hospital’s upcoming “Quarterly Health Beat” will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 4-5 p.m. The educational session is titled “Heart Health Facts and Information” and will feature guest speaker Andrea Oswald, an advanced registered nurse practitioner of the Iowa Heart Center in Fort Dodge. Oswald has worked in cardiology for 15 years and currently sees patients at Loring Hospital each month.
In addition to talking about ways to live a heart-healthy life, Oswald will specifically discuss atrial fibrillation (AFib). She will talk about what defines the condition, who is at risk for it, steps to reduce incidence/recurrence, typical treatment plans, and more.
The event falls during American Heart Month, which is celebrated each year throughout the month of February to raise awareness about heart health. Loring’s registered dietitian and diabetes educator, Jill Williams, and registered respiratory therapist, Tiffany Cress, will also be on hand to address questions related to heart-healthy eating and cardiac rehab services at Loring Hospital. Light refreshments will be provided for all attendees. For questions or to RSVP to this free event, call 712-662-6419.
The event is part of Loring Hospital’s community education program that includes a series of four annual health and wellness education sessions that are hosted by healthcare professionals and Loring Hospital staff. They are free and open to the public.
