Loring's Quarterly Health Beat: Flu Prevention and Immunization Information 101
November 5, 2019
Loring Hospital’s next “Quarterly Health Beat” is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 4-5 p.m. The educational program is entitled “Flu Prevention and Immunization Information 101” and will feature speaker Nicole Wiggins, who is the infection preventionist at Loring Hospital.
In addition to influenza prevention tips and information, Wiggins will discuss the common misconception that immunizations are just for children. She plans to cover why it is important not only for people of all ages to get the flu vaccine, but also why it is crucial for older adults to receive the shingles and pneumonia vaccines. Wiggins will also discuss side effects of these and other vaccines, as well as what specific ailments they prevent.
The event is part of Loring Hospital’s new community education program that includes a series of four annual health and wellness education sessions that are hosted by healthcare professionals and Loring Hospital staff. They are free and open to the public.
Light refreshments will be provided for all attendees. For questions or to RSVP to this free event, call 712-662-6419.
