Loring Named Top 100 Critical Access Hospital 5th Year in a Row

For the fifth year in a row, Loring Hospital in Sac City has been named a 2021 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. The designation is considered one of the most significant indicators of performance excellence in the rural healthcare industry.  

“This achievement is very gratifying and validates Loring Hospital’s daily commitment to providing the best healthcare possible to Sac County and beyond, while maintaining an efficient and effective facility,” said Stacy Johnson, chief executive officer and chief financial officer at Loring Hospital. “Though the past year certainly presented a number of challenges and unforeseen changes, this accomplishment serves as another true testament to our team’s unwavering commitment to providing exceptional patient care each and every day.”

This annual award honoring rural hospital performance throughout the United States is determined by the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX, which, over the course of the last 11 years, has grown to become the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance.

Based entirely on public data and utilizing 36 independent indicators, the INDEX assesses rural hospitals across eight pillars of performance, including market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspective, cost, charge, and financial efficiency. The INDEX framework is widely used across the nation by independent rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints and state offices of rural health, which provide access to INDEX analytics through grant-funded initiatives.
