Loring Hospital has been named as a 2024 Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by The Chartis Center for Rural Health. The designation is considered one of the most significant indicators of performance excellence in the rural healthcare industry.

“This designation is a true testament to the high level of care provided by our team each and every day," said Matt Johnson, CEO of Loring Hospital. “Patient care and patient safety are our top priority at Loring Hospital and we are immensely proud to have received this recognition. It truly speaks to the dedication of our healthcare team to deliver safe, effective, patient-centered care and our commitment to a community where care is exceptional and accessible for all.”

This annual award honoring rural hospital performance throughout the nation is determined by the results of the Chartis Rural Hospital Performance INDEX, which, over the course of the last 14 years, has established itself as the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance.

Based entirely on public data, the INDEX framework is widely used across the nation by independent rural hospitals, health systems with rural footprints and state offices of rural health, which provide access to INDEX analytics through grant-funded initiatives.

“During an era of profound uncertainty for rural healthcare, the Top 100 rural hospitals continue to provide a unique lens through which we can identify innovation and inspiration for how to deliver high quality care to increasingly vulnerable populations,” said Michael Topchik, national leader of The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

There are over 1,300 critical access hospitals in the nation, and Loring Hospital was one of only 12 critical access hospitals in Iowa to receive the designation. A comprehensive list of this year’s Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals can be found at www.chartis.com/top-performing-rural-hospitals.
