Loring Hospital in Sac City Receives Sleep Program Accreditation

The Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) recently recognized Loring Hospital for meeting the high standards required for receiving accreditation as a sleep disorders center.

Achieving accreditation is a process where healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. To receive accreditation, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the ACHC. These standards address core areas such as personnel, facility and equipment, policies and procedures, data acquisition, patient care, and quality assurance. Additionally, the sleep center’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.

“Loring Hospital is an important resource to the local community and we continue to strive for excellence in the services we provide,” stated Nancy Houska, Loring Public Relations Director. “Achieving our sleep lab accreditation reflects our dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care for the communities we serve,” she stated.

As a fully accredited Sleep Disorders Center, Loring Hospital is staffed with specially trained technologists, providing the highest quality of care to patients and increasing awareness and promoting the treatment of Sleep Disorders.

According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, there are approximately only 2,500 accredited sleep centers across the entire country, and few in Iowa. According to their website there are 12 accredited sleep studies facilities within 100 miles of Sac City in Sioux City, Des Moines, Carroll, Fort Dodge, and Omaha. By achieving ACHC Accreditation, Loring Hospital provides a service patients can receive locally versus driving to receive the same service. Loring Hospital continues to demonstrate their commitment to providing the highest-quality service through compliance with national regulations and industry best practices, only with providing excellent care to every patient, every day.
