Loring Hospital

A Letter from Brian Martin, Loring Hospital's CEO

Dear patients, families and communities we serve,

I want to personally welcome you to Loring Hospital and all we have to offer. As a 25-bed critical access rural hospital serving Sac County and the surrounding areas, our mission is to provide exceptional healthcare in an environment of trust and compassion. Here at Loring Hospital, we strive for the best outcome, every time, and believe that "each patient is our only patient".

I am happy you visited our website and hope you find it helpful—whether it is to answer questions about your health care, find a medical provider to meet your healthcare needs, or learn about services available here in Sac City.

Loring Hospital has been a proud part of the community since 1951. While we have evolved over the years, one thing has remained consistent–our commitment to ensuring patients receive personalized and high quality care. From our 24/7 ER, an evolving line of telehealth services, a variety of outpatient clinics, to our comfortable in-patient wing, we are here to serve you, our patients. We’ll continue to seek opportunities to offer additional services so you can receive a full spectrum of services with the best possible care, all in a local setting.

Loring Hospital was recognized as a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital by iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health. It is nice to be acknowledged as one of the top 100 (out of 1,348) hospitals for what we do every day.  While we may be small, we are mighty! Mighty in the quality care and unparalleled compassion our staff show— all with the ultimate goal of providing maximum value to patients. We also received significant accolades such as the Governor’s Recognition for community service, achieving accreditation for our Sleep Lab, and being nationally recognized for our Diabetes education program, just to name a few.

While take pride in what we’ve accomplished, but we remain resolute in our focus addressing future needs.  We completed a formal community health needs assessment which indicates we should focus on: (1) nutrition and obesity, (2) mental health, (3) and access to physicians. Our strategic plans will reflect these issues and we will continue to strive to provide services for these needs.  We are committed to improving the overall health and wellness of our communities to be the Hospital of Choice for Patients and Staff. We strive to provide specialty care needs in our Katie Youberg Outpatient Center.  While much of our focus has shifted to outpatient services, we have not lost sight of the need to maintain and strengthen our inpatient services here at Loring.

We will continue to make strategic and objective investments in technology, maximize the use of our physical layout, make it easier to navigate the halls by improving signage, and emphasize education and staff development—all focused on being better tomorrow than today. In 2017, we invested in technology and equipment to provide state of the art care. Our new call system, is a perfect example of our commitment to leveraging technology to improve patient safety and experience, while never losing focus that it is our staff that makes Loring what it is today—and will be tomorrow.

Loring remains an active participant in community endeavors where we strive to serve both as organizational entity and as individual members in our contribution to the betterment of the community. Some recent activities included participation in the Summer Free Lunch Program, Sac County Relay for Life, hosting a Healthiest State Walk, holding a Tee’d Off for Cancer golf tournament, and working with local schools/colleges to promote rural health care opportunities, just to name a few.

In summary, it continues to be my sincere honor to serve as the hospital CEO.  It is a blessing to work side by side with the some of the most professional staff in health care today—as well as being so generously supported by the Auxiliary and Loring Foundation.  Our staff of nearly 100 professionals has dedicated their time, energy and expertise to providing high quality care every day.  So along with the staff and the Board of Directors, we are encouraged knowing the value Loring has provided over the years, and are encouraged by what the future holds.  Best wishes for the coming year.

Sincerely,

Brian D. Martin
