Family Hospice Bereavement Support Group
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Loring Family Hospice is a Medicare certified Hospice. Hospice care is available for people who can no longer benefit from curative treatment, and in general have a life expectancy of six months or less. Hospice care may be provided in the home or in a nursing home when that is the individual's residence.
Hospice care places patient dignity and respect for the patient's wishes first and foremost. By utilizing a team approach, the patient and family benefits from a coordinated plan which is designed to improve the quality of life and to manage pain and other symptoms. The team includes the patient, family, significant others, friends, nurse, aide, physician, chaplain, social worker, therapists, and support services including trained hospice volunteers. Members of the team have had special training in the hospice concept of care.
Loring Hospice has a monthly Bereavement Support Group which provides ongoing support to family after the death of the loved one.
Loring Family Hospice provides a variety of services including:
- Nursing Care
- Social Services

Through donations to Hospice, equipment is available to loan to families and patients. Some of the equipment available includes: lift chairs, stool risers, shower benches, walkers, commodes, canes and wheel chairs.
Donations have also made it possible to purchase educational materials, videos, books and tapes. These are available to check out from the Hospice Office library located in the Loring Clinic basement.
The Loring Hospice volunteers offer comfort and support such as care giver relief or transportation to families going through a most difficult time. There are over 45 volunteers scattered throughout the county. They offer countless hours of support and service every year.
